We are a family of seven – two adults and five children – and together we have fulfilled a long-held dream: to restore an old thatched cottage dating back to 1799 and transform it into a special holiday home. Our Fjord Cottage is nestled in the rolling hills of Angeln, near Gelting Bay on the beautiful Baltic coast of Schleswig-Holstein – surrounded by expansive fields, hedgerows with deer and hares, and unforgettable sunsets over the bay.
What is today a stylish, tranquil holiday home with three individual units – Port, Starboard, and the Captain's Lodge – was just a few years ago a dilapidated old farmstead. But we immediately saw something in it: a home for spending time together. A place where we, as a family, could come together across generations. And a place we also want to open to other people to enjoy holidays in harmony with nature and the North German countryside.
