What makes the Fjord Cottage so special?

From the first idea to its final realization, there were many months and, above all, sleepless nights. The name alone gives a hint of our basic idea. Our Fjord Cottage was to be a farmhouse, a classic cottage. With many natural building materials, but with modern technology to meet today's energy requirements.

It was particularly important to us to combine tradition with modernity. The open ceilings with their cross beams and traditional floorboards represent a lot of tradition.

We found simple ceiling paintings under the suspended ceiling, which unfortunately had been so damaged by various renovations in the past that we were unable to preserve them. But we managed to restore the old wooden ceiling to its original state. In the past, only the ground floor was used as living space, together with the cattle in the directly connected stable. The first floor served as a hayloft. So it is not surprising that during the renovation we found huge amounts of straw and remnants of the harvest of that time in the intermediate ceilings. The two fireplaces were part of the house when it was founded and we restored them.

In addition to ceiling paintings, we also found wall paintings. Unfortunately, these were so damaged that we could not restore them. Instead, the walls were insulated with natural materials, so that the old house now has the same energy efficiency rating as a new building.

In addition to the building materials, we also tried to create a cottage style in the furnishings. Lots of muted pastel colors and comfortable furniture invite you to linger. Whether by the fireplace, in the kitchens or simply in the living rooms with a view of the garden.

We want to make this special ensemble available to you as part of our rental . With the location of the Fjord Cottage directly on the Flensburg Fjord, a stay invites you to many activities. Whether cycling, hiking, water sports, horse riding or golf. In the immediate vicinity of the Fjord Cottage you will find many opportunities to enjoy your time to the fullest. Since the beach is only 3 minutes away, you can also just relax there.
